GROUP AND CORPORATE SALES MANAGER


Portland Opera—a one-of-a-kind company that produces Opera and presents national touring Broadway shows—has an immediate opening for a Group and Corporate Sales Manager.  This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Public Relations and is charged with managing group and corporate sales efforts for a dazzling schedule of Broadway and Opera productions.  As part of an intense and team-oriented department, the Group and Corporate Sales Manager also works closely with Broadway Across America regional and national partners.  Compensation, including a full benefits package, is comprised of a base salary plus sales commissions.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES


Work with the Director of Marketing and PR to develop and implement policies, procedures and marketing strategies for Group Sales; set and achieve goals for Portland Opera and Fred Meyer Broadway Across America Portland sales; manage sales budget; create and develop individual group and corporate campaigns on a show by show basis; create group and corporate marketing pieces and work with the mail house for distribution; work closely with Box Office to fulfill ticket orders for both series.  Develop and continue to build a strong client base in a wide variety of industry sectors.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Develop, build and maintain a strong client base to market group sales through mail, email, phone and personal presentation campaigns
  • Create viable long-term professional relationships with clients based on credibility, service and professionalism
  • Search in creative and resourceful ways for new clients and markets
  • Work closely with the Box Office team to insure effective and timely group ticket processing, including holds, pricing, discounts, inventory maintenance

   
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven sales experience, preferably in the entertainment/cultural arena
  • Customer service and sales-oriented mentality
  • Attention to detail and prioritizing of heavy workload
  • Self-starter and relationship builder
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Arts-minded professional


Helpful

  • Ticketmaster experience, especially Archtics

Patron Services Sales and Fundraising Agent (Afternoon/Evening Position)

Portland Opera has an immediate opening for a Patron Services Sales Agent (PSSA). The PSSA reports directly to the Director of Sales and Customer Service. Our sales staff maintains a high profile in the marketplace and enjoys a well-earned reputation for its professionalism and courtesy. The sales office is highly productive and provides significant revenues to Portland Opera in the form of ticket sales and contributions. It provides ticketing and customer services for Portland Opera productions and Broadway Across America Portland series. We work in a comfortable and spacious office, and maintain a highly communicative and respectful professional work environment. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary position. Compensation based upon hourly wage plus commission.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 4PM until 8PM.
Sell subscription packages for the Portland Opera and Broadway Across America Portland Series.
Solicit contributions for the Portland Opera and Broadway Across America Portland fundraising programs.
Handle payments according to established policies and procedures (e.g., cash, check, charge, gift certificates, etc.)
Assist customers in securing their desired seats in a positive and professional manner.
Keep up-to-date information for current events and offers on hand.
Complete order forms, sales notes, computer entries, etc. in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain knowledge of office operations and customer service protocols.
Perform other duties required by the sales team as directed.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated experience in a sales and customer service environment.
Excellent verbal and strong written communication skills; excellent basic math skills.
General knowledge of a performing arts organization a plus.
Basic computer skills a plus.
